Today we are talking with Aliy Zirkle and Allen Moore. Together they operate SP Kennel in Two Rivers Alaska. If you've found your way to this podcast, it's likely you already know of them and what they do.

Aliy and Allen had a phenomenal year with their dogs in 2012. Their form was clear immediately from the beginning of the season where Aliy placed second in the Sheep Mountain 150 - an early season shakedown for competitive teams.  Allen then took the team to the famous Yukon Quest, and placed a very close 2nd place, just 26 seconds behind Hugh Neff. Starting the Iditarod with many of those same dogs that ran the Quest just weeks prior, Aliy Zirkle had her best placing in that race in her career. She finished a very close second sandwiched in-between winner Dallas Seavey, and third place finisher Ramey Smyth.

I sat down with Aliy and Allen at their home and kennel in Two Rivers, Alaska to do a long overdue interview and photograph their dogs for the upcoming Mushing Magazine SuperDogs feature.
